Match notes
Victoria reached a respectable first innings total and quickly had two Western Australian wickets by stumps. A third wicket fell quickly before two useful partnerships rescued the innings somewhat. The ninth Western Australian wicket fell 52 runs short. The final wicket fell on the last ball as an attempted two found Wootton short of his ground, the run being taken in an attempt to induce a wild throw and a further run from overthrows for victory but it was not to be.
