DateLine: 19th December 2009
Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was banned for two One-Day Internationals due to slow over-rate in India's narrow loss in the 2nd ODI against Sri Lanka at Nagpur. The decision to ban Dhoni was taken by match referee Jeff Crowe.

India finished bowling their overs around 45 minutes late due to frequent discussions between the captain and the bowlers and fielders towards the closing stages of Sri Lanka's chase. There was also a hold-up in play when Angelo Mathews was injured and the Sri Lankan physio tended to him.
The ban - effective immediately - means Dhoni will miss the ODIs scheduled in Cuttack on Monday, December 21 and in Kolkata on Thursday, December 24. He will, however, be available for the final ODI at Delhi on December 27.
