Notes
--> The match was reduced before play started to 30 overs per side
--> Bowling in the Australia innings adds 5 runs under
--> Bowling in the Pakistan innings adds 4 runs under
--> Waqar Younis took a hat-trick in the Australia innings (Jones, Matthews, Rackemann)

The match was originally scheduled as a 40-overs game, but did not get under way until 1.30pm after the organisers found that the clay base of the intended pitch, over which matting was to be tacked, was wet after rain seeped under the flimsy covers. A makeshift pitch was then devised but proved to be very poor.
