Bresnan was the youngest player to have played for Yorkshire in 20 years when he debuted in 2001 at an age of 16 years. He then gently made route into the England U-19 teams and played two World Cup's with the side. In 2003 he also won the Denis Compton Award for the most promising Yorkshire player. Bresnan was very impressive in the 2006 season which led to him being given a call to the English national side and face the likes of Sri Lanka. However below par performances and injuries in the second half of the season made him lose his place for the series against Pakistan. Alongside Stuart Broad, Bresnan could be another fast bowling all-rounder and in English conditions this powerfully built player can come in handy.
