Scorecard:Rawtenstall v Ramsbottom

DateLine: 10th August 2008

Despite an allround performance by the Ramsbottom professional Shane Harwood, Rammy fell well short of Rawtenstall's tally in a rain effected match at The Worswick Memorial Ground.

Chosing to bat first Rawtenstall got off to a brisk start with a half century opening stand by skipper Andy Payne and Chris Cook-Martin. Heavy wind caused the sighscreen to blow down early on, making it difficult for the bowlers. Two wickets in successive balls by the Rammy paid man halted their progress. With Harwood's opposite number Nathan McCullam striking 44, the Rawtenstall total of 164 all out was a good score in the reduced overs of 43. Toby McLean collected 3 wickets but his 14 overs were expensive. Both Jack Walmsley and Mick Haslam bowled tidy spells, but no spinners were adopted which lead to Rammy being deducted 1 point for a slow over rate, the second time this season.

Phil Hayes for once failed as Ramsbottom got off to a poor start. The middle order was enhanced with Harwood playing a careful innings. His dismissal on 46 was the final nail as Ramsbottom fell well short when more rain fell.
