"Milton Lord, was Nelson Cricket Club through and through.
"He became chairman of the club in 1998 and threw his heart and soul into the task of keeping Nelson at the forefront of league cricket.
"Milton and I became firm friends as we served together on the cricket committee and I know of his full commitment to Nelson affairs.
"Not only did he lead the club administratively but he used his own personal skills and talents to ensure that jobs were undertaken and completed successfully.
"Milton's association with Nelson C. C. began in 1970 as a player, making his first team debut in 1971.
"He proved to be an excellent reader of the game and captained the 2nd XI to the Junior League championship twice.
"Once his playing days were over, Milton served as chairman of the club for 14 years, winning the Lancashire League title twice in his first two seasons and forming a brilliant partnership with John Reed, the club President.
"Personally, I have lost a dear friend and offer my heartfelt condolences to Norma and all the family."
Derek Metcalfe,
Hon. Club Historian & Statistician, Nelson C.C.
