The English team came closer for a 2-0 series victory after West Indies closed day four of the final Test on 115-3 following on, still 144 behind. West Indian team resumed at 94-3 and though Ramnaresh Sarwan collected a century, he and Shiv Chanderpaul were dismissed by Stuart Broad before lunch. Denesh Ramdin made a defiant 55 but was not enough. James Anderson finished with 5-87. Chris Gayle fired two sixes as his side started well batting again, but Graham Onions took two wickets in an over.

Matt Prior had earlier left the field with a finger injury leaving Paul Collingwood with the gloves, but X-rays revealed no fracture.Anderson impressed from the outset with some accurate swing bowling and there was also movement for Onions, although Sarwan and Chanderpaul held firm for the opening hour. Broad had Chanderpaul edging to keeper and Sarwan was removed by an Anderson inswinger. The Australia-born left-hander Brendan Nash held his end up for but not for long. Jerome Taylor was trapped plumb lbw by Onions, 154 were still needed to save the follow-on. Benn and Ramdin added a fifty partnership from 62 balls. Anderson then removed Ramdin to record his sixth five wicket haul in his Test career.
In the second innings Gayle thumped Anderson nonchalantly over long-on for six in the third over, before despatching Onions for six more in similar fashion. Smith's frailties against Swann were highlighted again when he played all around one and was plumb lbw. Sarwan's second innings of the day contained some more stylish shots before Onions dislodged him, and Gayle he edged to Strauss who juggled, but gleefully held the catch.LATEST SCORES
