  • This was the 2020th match in ODI history.
  • Brian Lara was captaining WI for the 50th time in an ODI. He became fourth West Indian (after Viv Richards –106, Richie Richardson – 87 and Clive Lloyd – 83) and 27th player in the world to do so.
  • Matthew Hayden (29) became the leading run-scorer in the year 2003. At the end of this match, he has aggregated 771 runs from 22 games at an average of 40.58 which takes him past the tally of Sri Lankan Marvan Atapattu who has aggregated 765 runs in 21 games at an average of 40.26 so far this year. Ricky Ponting has also made 765 runs in 23 matches.
  • Brett Lee has now taken 42 wickets in 21 matches which makes him the leading wicket taker in the year 2003. He went ahead of Sri Lankan Muttiah Muralitharan who has taken 41 wickets in 20 matches.
  • Wavel Hinds (125*) scored his second hundred in 74th match. His only other hundred had come against Zimbabwe – 116* off 125 balls at Kingston in 1999-00.
  • Hinds’ innings is the 13th highest against Australia. Out of the 13, five have been scored by West Indians. But more Interestingly four of the top 10 innings against Australia have been played by one batsman – by India’s Sachin Tendulkar.
  • Hinds innings included six sixes. He became third batsman to hit six sixes in a match against Australia after India’s Sachin Tendulkar (7 sixes at Kanpur on 07-04-1998) and New Zealander Lance Cairns (6 sixes at Melbourne on 13-02-1983).
  • Hinds won third Man of the Match award of his career.
