Suffolk won this return match by 131 runs on the second day. The match between the two sides at Cambridge in July was won by Cambridgeshire. For Suffolk Bird scored 110 not out in 2 hours and 40 minutes with 12 fours. With Bassett he added 81 runs for the seventh wicket and with Penfold 58 for the tenth wicket in the Suffolk first innings. Penfold took 11 wickets in the match for 157 runs, including 5 for 84 in the first innings and 6 for 73 in the second. For Cambridgeshire Coulson and Sadler added at least 69 runs for the tenth wicket in the first innings. Coulson took 6 wickets for 29 runs in the Suffolk second innings. Extras in the Suffolk first innings totalled 72.
