This return match was drawn with Staffordshire winning on first innings. The game between the two teams at Stoke-on-Trent a week before had been won by Staffordshire. For the visitors, Barnes took 7 wickets for 71 in the Surrey 2nd XI first innings. Brown carried his bat for the second time in the season, his 91 not out containing 7 fours scored in 4½ hours. Briggs scored 59. In the Staffordshire first innings, Briggs and Brown had an opening partnership of 101 runs. For the home side, there was 1 five, 14 fours, 4 threes and 4 twos in Davis's 103 not out. Ducat played two innings of 65 with 11 fours and 74. In the Surrey 2nd XI second innings, Davis and Ducat added 138 runs for the third wicket.
