Glamorgan won by 4 wickets shortly after 4.00 pm on the second day, but play continued at the agreement of the two captains, to provide further cricket for the spectators. In the absence of a scorebook for either side, it has not proved possible to reconstruct the score for both the batting and bowling analyses back to the moment when Glamorgan won. The match between the two teams at Newport in June had been drawn. For the winners, S Lowe took 11 wickets for 100 runs, and R Lowe's 78 included 11 fours and Letcher's 57 contained 6 fours. For Monmouthshire, there were 11 fours in Silverlock's 84, and Steeples took 10 wickets in the match for 137 runs, including 7 for 60 in the Glamorgan second innings, of which 3 wickets were taken after Glamorgan had won. On the first day the start was delayed because four of the Cardiff players missed their train.
[Missing: Umpires; extras breakdown; part fall of wickets; reconstructed score to when Glam won by four wickets.]
