This match was scheduled to be a 2-day match on 29 and 30 December but when the first day was washed out it was decided to play a 50-over match on the second day.
Ashburton County were 19 for 4 after 14 overs with Townrow having taken 4 for 4 off 7 overs but a good partnership between Anderson and Sampson saw Ashburton County back in to the game. Then another good partnership between Anderson and Wilson was ended when a magnificent throw from Baird saw Wilson run out.
