Drought conditions meant that the teams agreed to start the game at 12.30pm on the first day to allow the farmers in the Wairarapa team to tend to their stock
Ironically rain disrupted play late on the first day and it became too wet to start the Hawke's Bay first innings
Rain was still falling on the second morning so the game was abandoned at mid-day
