First day of the match was played on 10th December and the 2nd and 3rd day was continued on the 5th and 6th of January. Matara Sports Club did not turn up to resume play on 11th December due to a robbery that took place at the guest house where they were staying in Mount Lavinia, losing all their belongings and the team vehicle. Both sides played another complete game in the period between the first day and the rearranged second day of this match.
