The match was affected by rain.
The Felstedian magazine said that Rice was "less attractive" than Moody, but "aided by a sure eye and strong wrists, scored at an amazing rate. He should have been caught twice and stumped once before he had reached twenty, but his luck held and thereafter he gave only one chance. His innings, twice interrupted by showers, included four sixes and thirteen fours."
