Gary Brent will be Enfield's professional this coming season after all. Brent had agreed to return as professional after taking over from Brandon Hiini in the middle of the 2008 season but the club had to look elsewhere after he secured a coaching job at Rugby School.

However the club failed to secure a replacement in time for the forthcoming season so they have agreed terms with Brent who will effectively act as a match professional. The 33 year-old will also miss some Saturday matches early in the season.
In replacing Hiini, Brent proved to be a revelation with both bat and ball, inspiring the team to rise from 9th place to finish 4th, picking up 62 wickets at 12.6 from just 16 matches but the real bonus was his batting average of 47.4 in hitting 379 runs with five half centuries.
