Event: | West Indies in New Zealand 2008/09 |
DateLine: 12th December 2008
The second day's play of the first test match between New Zealand and West Indies has been washed out without a ball being bowled. Heavy rains lashed the city of Dunedin leaving the umpires with no other option but to abandon play.
There were a couple of inspections before lunch, but due to a soggy outfield and persistent showers umpires had to call of play immediately after lunch. It would be extremely disappointing for both teams considering the fact that they lost close to 17 overs of play on the fist day due to bad light.
The weather needs to be perfect so as to have three full days of play so that both teams can force a result. With the weather playing spoil sport it looks extremely difficult for both teams to get anything in their favour in this test match
