Its a repeat of last edition of the ICL.The finalists are the same. Hyderabad Heroes will take on the Lahore Badshahs once again in thisedition of the ICL finals. Last time around Hyderabad Heroes won. This time around it will be interesting with Lahore Badshahs peaking at the right moment after Mohammed Yousuf joining them.
In the semifinals Hyderabad Heroes beat the Royal Bengal Tigers by 3 wickets with 3 balls to spare . Chasing a target of 162 in 20 overs set by a Royal Bengal Tigers Hyderabad Heroes had a few hiccups after a good start. But Stuart Binny kept his cool and with a crucial knock of 45 guided them home.
Early on Royal Bengal Tigers after losing the toss and put in to bat were reeling at 10 for 3. Rohan Gavaskar and Lance Klusener put in a ICL record partnership of 145 to bail them out.A total of 161 was a challenging one but was not good enough . Both Lance Klusener and Rohan Gavaskar got fighting half centuries. But they would have known at the back of their mind that if there was a better start they could have ended with 180 plus which could have been extremely challenging on a pitch that was affording turn. But the dew factor also came into play and their total was never going to be good enough for the strong Hyderabad Heroes batting line up.
It was also a battle of sons of two former cricketers Sunil Gavaskar and Roger Binny.Stuart Binny won but Rohan Gavaskar was certainly not the runner up with the innings that he played. How he would have wished for a better start to his team.
