| Scorecard: | Bangladesh v New Zealand |
| Event: | New Zealand in Bangladesh 2008/09 |
DateLine: 17th October 2008
After being in a pathetic position Bangladesh recovered to post 183 for the loss of 4 wickets at the end of the first days play of the first test against New Zealand at Chittagong today. A Brilliant rearguard action by Mehrab Hossain and Mushfiqur Rahim rescued them from a disastrous start. They put a record unbroken fifth wicket stand of 139 against New Zealand to take their team to respectability.
Earlier in the day Bangladesh won the toss and choose to bat and were off to a disastrous start losing four wickets for 44 runs on the board. They were going at a run rate of one and over and maintained it through out the day. It was a painstaking day of test cricket, but the two lads showed tremendous grit and determination to get Bangladesh out of a hole.
Fielding lapses also cost New Zealand dearly as they dropped lot of sitters. Hopefully they would want to wrap up the Bangladesh innings quickly tomorrow morning and get a good hit in the middle.
