Sachin was obviously thrilled on breaking the world record. At the post match press conference, he was clear that his focus was on the team getting a good first innings total rather than his own record. He said it was a terrific moment when he got to that milestone. But he and Sourav resolved to bat on. He said that he looked at the heaven's and thanked almighty and his father whom he felt he missed. He also said that when he went in to bat today morning he was never thinking of breaking Lara's record. Record was completely out of his mind. Sachin also was disappointed at not being there at the end of the day's play as it was very important to start fresh tomorrow. He said that the team targets were more important to him than his own milestones. He had something for the critics as well. He said that opinions are opinions and he plays for the team goals. He firmly ruled out retirement saying that nobody can tell him when to quit.
