Late fightback by India
As rains came down for a brief while India were precariously placed.Saurav had just got out trapped in front by Johnson.But when Zaheer joined Harbhajan Bengaluru fans were in for a real treat.Harbhajan played a brilliant innings and along with Zaheer strung in a partnership of 80.India closed day 3 at 313 for 8,with Harbhajan getting out at the fag end of the day for 54.
Johnson wrecks the middle order
Mitchell johnson was the wrecker in chief .Early on in the day with proactive captaincy and excellent in and out fields Ricky Ponting combined with Mitchell Johnson to wreck the Indian batting.Brett Lee got the initial breakthrough going around the wicket and trapping Gambhir in front.Sehwag slashed at a wide one of Johnson and was caught at slip.Then came the moment of day when Sachin was foxed by a slower one of Mitchell Johnson and was caught at short point by Cameron White. Excellent piece of bowling and great captaincy.Laxman poked at wide one and was caught behind for nought
Dravid and Saurav fight back
Dravid seeing wickets fall on the other end dug in.He fought really hard to grind through the tough times.Ball was keeping low and the wicket was two paced.It was getting extremely difficult for strokeplay.Runs were extremely difficult to come by.Dravid and Saurav dug deep before and after lunch.After lunch Dravid got to his fifty but was soon unlucky to be given out.Ball seemed to be going over the stumps but he was declared leg before to Watson by Asad Rauf.
Zaheer and Harbhajan fight back
Dhoni scratched around a little bit but was cleaned up by Michael Clarke.Saurav was trapped in front by Johnson.But Harbhajan and Zaheer fought back brilliantly to take the attack to the opposition.After rain came down for just 20 minutes and stopped,it looked like a completely different surface.Harbhajan got a brilliant fifty mixing caution with aggression.Ditto Zaheer who supported him to the hilt as they put on a partnership of 80.Harbhajan finally was out caught behind of Watson as India lived to fight another day trailing Aussies by 117 runs.
