Scorecard: | Todmorden v Ramsbottom |
DateLine: 15th June 2008
A brilliant spell of medium quick bowling from Mick Haslam, just 2 weeks after suffering a horrendous head injury, took the fight out of Todmorden, and ensured Ramsbottom a fifth successive league victory, and move them into fourth spot.

Choosing to bat first, Rammy were hampered by 5 separate breaks as showers came over the ground consistently. Despite this all the batsmen contributed, not one failing to reach double figures. Chris Read batted well to top score with 52, and Keith Webb back in his old position of opener struck a smart 36, with pro Dinesh Mongia chipping in with 32. The total of 206 in the reduced innings of 37 overs was a great success especially with the interruptions.
Todmorden started well after an adjusted target of 201 in 36 overs, especially Simon Newbitt who took a liking to pro Mongia, he struck 8 fours and three sixes. His dismissal was the last resistance of the home side, as the fell well short.
Mick Haslam's bowling was an inspiration, his 12th five wicket haul for Ramsbottom came in a burst, having the dangerous Bodi dismissed third ball.(Article: The opinions expressed in this article are those of the author only.
