Scorecard: | Ramsbottom v Haslingden |
DateLine: 8th June 2008
On the warmest day of the season so far, and in front of a good home crowd, Ramsbottom notched off their fifth successive League victory by defeating Haslingden at Acre Bottom by 9 wickets.

Choosing to bat first Haslingden made a strong start despite losing opener Clough with 9 on the board, being stumped by Richard Hevingham off skipper Simon Read.
Graham Knowles and pro David Bandy put together 61 before a rather needless run out caused an amazing collapse. Simon Read, troubled by no balls, found his length and after a quick burst from Toby McLean, sub pro Wayne Madsen found the edges with his off-spin. Eight wickets fell for 49 runs and the visitors were skittled for 119. Simon Read took five wickets, and the pro four.
After an early tea, Phil Hayes and Madsen set about the Haslingden bowlers with some aplomb. Hayes struck 10 fours before charging down the wicket to be stumped having earned a well deserved collection. Madsen finished with 61 not out with 9 fours, as he sent the home supporters into the bar early with 12 points in the bag.
"A superb performance" said Mick Everett, Chairman of the Cricket Committee. "After the traumas of the week, with Mick Haslam injury and losing our pro, it was just the fillip the boys needed."(Article: The opinions expressed in this article are those of the author only.
