BLORE, Herbert Richard

Son of the Rev. G.J.Blore DD., Canterbury.
Entered Marlborough College, (C3 House), January 1884, Cricket XI 1888-9, Left Midsummer 1889.
King's Royal Rifle Corps 1890; Chitral (medal and clasp); South Africa 1899-02 (Queen's medal and five clasps, King's medal and two clasps); Brevet Major 1900; Staff College Graduate 1907.
He played cricket for Marlborough Blues (1892), Kent 2nd XI (1894) and W.Province (1899).
First World War - Lt-Colonel 1916; General Staff Officer, France 1916-18; First Grade Western Command 1918; Mentioned in Despatches; DSO 1918; CBE 1919; Retired 1919.
In 1933 he was living in Natal, South Africa, but by 1952 he had an English address.
