Player: | GB Brent |
DateLine: 20th February 2007
He made his ODI debut in 1996 and in a young Zimbabwe side this makes Gary Brent the daddy of them all. A seam bowler whose forte is steadiness Brent has had a stop and start international year and that is why after more than ten years he has played only four Tests and 49 one-day matches. After his first game against Pakistan he had to wait another three years before gaining a regular slot in his countrys limited overs squad. Brents stock ball is the inswinger and he has a three-wicket haul in his brief Test career and a four-wicket haul in ODIs. He was one of the 15 rebel players whose dispute with Zimbabwe Cricket led to their dismissal in 2004. This seemed to spell the end of his international career but he was unexpectedly recalled for the Champions Trophy in India in 2006 as a replacement for Terry Duffin.
