Player: | Abdur Razzak |
DateLine: 19th February 2007
Bangladesh have produced a number of quality left arm spinners and Abdur Razzaq is the latest in the long line. He has played only one Test but has made a name for himself in the shorter version of the game. He is very accurate and even the best of batsmen have found him difficult to get away for runs a fact underlined by his excellent economy rate. But the position of his bowling arm during delivery is a cause for concern and his action has been reported. He took three for 17 on his ODI debut against Hong Kong in the Asia Cup in Colombo in 2004 but was reported for a suspect action after the next match against Pakistan. He missed the Champions Trophy in England that year but was recalled for the ODI against Zimbabwe in January 2005. He played in the home series against Sri Lanka in February 2006 before making his Test debut two months later against Australia at Chittagong where he finished wicketless after sending down 30 overs.
