Sri Lanka Cricket are set to seek compensation from their South African counterparts over South Africa's pullout from the Unitech Cup tri-series. SLC have invited International Cricket Council president Percy Sonn "to assess for himself" the security arrangements that are in place for the touring teams.

"Yes, Mr Sonn is coming here on Sunday and we will meet him to present our case," SLC media manager Samantha Alagama said on Saturday. "We have invited him to see for himself the security measures that are in place for India and judge for himself whether they are adequate," he added.

Meanwhile, SLC president Jayantha Dharmadasa was quoted as saying that the board will use Mr Sonn's visit to press their case for compensation from South Africa following the cancellation of the tri-series. Incidentally, Mr Sonn, an erstwhile president of Cricket South Africa, has recently been appointed to ICC's top post.

The Sri Lankan Board also ruled out the possibility of rescheduling the tournament saying: "No way we could have another tri-series involving India because of their international commitments. India's presence is vital for not only it boosts the television audience around the world but also nets a huge amount of money from television broadcasters."

SLC were due to receive $11 million from Ten Sports for the August 14 to 29 triangular series. ICC media manager Brian Murgatroyd earlier said the tri-series would have to be rescheduled if South Africa are to avoid the monetary penalty.
