Tasmanian pace bowler Adam Griffith has agreed to join Bacup as professional for the forthcoming season. The 6'6'' right arm fast medium paced bowler is one of the leading wicket takers in this seasons Pura Cup with 42 wickets at 28.38 with a best of 7-54 in the opening game against Victoria in November.

Griffith was originally a target for the club last season when Shaun Young recommended him, but an injury ended Bacup's interest. Ironically the 27 year-old will now replace Bacup's original signing New Zealander Jacob Oram, who had to withdraw after suffering a back injury.

The Tasmanian is not known as a batsman with a career average of 12.6, but Bacup will be hoping that he can form a partnership with new skipper David Ormerod in the way that Adam Dale did in 2000 when the club won the first of three successive Lancashire League titles.
