Chairman PCB after consultation with the tour management committee has decided, on 20th January, to recall Shoaib Akhtar to Pakistan to achieve full fitness in preparation for Pakistan's tour of India beginning on Feb 25th.
Shoaib Akhtar performed successfully during the Tests at Perth and Melbourne but has broken down with stress injuries since the Sydney Test. Rather than risk further injury, Shoaib Akhtar will be placed on a specific fitness rehabilitation regime so that he operates at optimum capacity against India.
For the present no replacement is being considered as Iftikhar Anjum & Mohammad Khalil are already in the tour party.
