Mumbai, June 24 : The parents of Team India pacer Barinder Sran advise the young cricketers of the country to study hard learn English along with their mother-tongue.

The 23-year-old left-arm medium pacer won the Man of the Series against Zimbabwe and at the presentation ceremony had to invite his team-mate Mandeep Singh to communicate his feelings to the commentator Neil Manthorp on Wednesday. He answered his views in Hindi, which ultimately were interpreted in English by Mandeep Singh.

"My son was only interested in playing and didn't want to study", the father Balvir Singh, speaking exclusively over his mobile from Panniwala Morika (a small village in Sirsa, Haryana), said.

"I am a farmer and could not study but wanted my son to be a graduate. He only studied (in Gurunanak Public School) up to 12th (in Punjabi) and didn't complete the graduation".

"All young boys must study hard so that the situation does not arise when they go to some other country and can't speak English".

Barinder's sister Rupinder Kaur is a Graduate in Arts faculty (Punjabi medium).

"We watched the match till last ball and were excited with the performance of my son. We were terribly tensed when he started his run-up for the last ball. We had a fear whether he would give away four runs and thus India would lose the match. Luckily it didn't happen and we won".

"We were sincerely praying in the last over and our prayers were answered", the father signed off.
