Scorecard: | India v South Africa |
Event: | ICC World Cup 2010/11 |
DateLine: 25th March 2011
It was a sensational win when the Proteas defeated india by three wickets in the league phase of World Cup 2011. Earlier, India had set a target of 297 runs for the South Africans to achieve. Amla and Jacques Kallis laid a solid platform by picking singles and twos as they kept their head and cool even when the run rate was rising at a particular stage.

They completed half centuries and they were well supported by AB deVilliers who continued his good run in the World Cup and did not let his captain down by playing some beautiful cover drives which were a delight to watch. He put the Proteas on ytack to clinch a famous victory. One should not forget Dale Steyn who captured five vital wickets with his immaculate line and length and give kudos to the skipper Graeme Smith who brought Morkel in to curtail the flow of runs by Sachin Tendulkar.
The match went down to the wire as Peterson slammed Nehra for a boundary and a six of consecutive balls in the final over and helped Proteas to a thrilling victory.
This match sets an example and I firmly believe South Africa are a favourite to win the World Cup because they perform as a team as other teams lack this Collective Effort.(Article: The opinions expressed in this article are those of the author only.
