The second day's play of the first Test between India and Sri Lanka was washed out because of persistent rain in Galle.

 

Initially, overnight rain had caused the start to be delayed thereafter it rained persistently since morning ensuring that no further play was possible during the day.

 

The start of first day's play on Sunday, was also delayed by 30 minutes due to wet ground conditions. The weather forecast as far as the Test match is concerned is not very encouraging as heavy rain shower are predicted for the next few days in Galle.
