Karnatakas medium pacer R Vinay Kumar is the only new comer in the Indian World Cup T20 squad that was announced here on Friday. The seamer was finally rewarded for his consistency in domestic circuit where he has taken bucketful of wickets 46 wickets in last Ranji Season. His excellent form in DLF IPL 3 where he is second highest wicket taker was also another reason which prompted the selection committee headed by Kris Srikanth to include him as the fourth seamer. Zaheer Khan, Praveen Kumar and Nehra are the other fast bowlers in the squad.

In another surprising move leg-spinner Piyush Chawla has been recalled to the national squad after two years in wilderness. He wins the second spinners slot ahead of Pragyan Ojha and Amit Mishra.Mishras omission has particularly come as a surprise considering the fact that the Delhi leg-spinner had so far had an impressive outing in the DLF. Ravinder Jadeja has also been included in the squad as an all-rounder.

Among medium pacers Ishant Sharma has not been picked while the selectors have included the still recovering Ashish Nehra in the squad. Virat Kohli should consider himself unlucky as he loses his place to Rohit Sharma, who has proved his worth as an all-rounder for Deccan Chargers in the DLF IPL 3. There were no other surprises in the 15-member squad.
