Player:Shakib Al Hasan
Event:Bangladesh in New Zealand 2009/10

DateLine: 19th February 2010

Shakib Al Hasan played an enterprising innings to try and save the Test for his team but in the end the task was too tall for the Bangladeshi skipper. The southpaw did everything that his team could ask for but he could not find adequate support from the other end. In the end New Zealand won the Test by 121 runs.

Resuming the day at 88 for 5 the only option for Bangladesh was to try and save the Test rather than go for the winning glory. For around 20 overs Shakib and keeper batsman Rahim stalled New Zealand's victory bid but then Tuffey finally got better of the latter. Mahmudullah too valuable support to the skipper before Shakib completed a dazzling century reconfirming that he was the best willow-wielder in the outfit.

But soon after completing his century the skipper fell and with it the rest of the side folded up for 282 thus handing New Zealand 121 run victory.
