The ICC Americas (Central Division) Under-15 Tournament, being played in Nassau, Bahamas, continued on Sunday August 9 at Haynes Oval with a rematch between The Cayman Islands and Belize. Belize put up a valiant effort, but it was The Cayman Islands who once again emerged victorious.

The match started with Belize winning the toss, and electing to bat first. Most of Belizes top order batsmen got off to good starts, but their innings were plagued with wickets falling at regular intervals. However, a steady fifth wicket partnership developed between Aaron Musslar and Darrel Young. Together Musslar and Young put on 39 runs, carrying Belize to a defendable target of 138 runs (for the loss of five wickets) in 30 overs. Musslar top scored for Belize with a score of 25 not out. Joneil Bent was Caymans leading wicket taker with two.
The Cayman Islands run chase got off to a shaky start with opening batsman Anthony Dawes being run out with the score only on 17. Matthew Suberan replaced Dawes and immediately stabilized his teams innings. Cayman looked to be cruising to the set target, but a late push by Belize made it anyones game. Cayman lost 4 wickets within the space of 24 runs, but eventually scampered through with 7 balls remaining and only one wicket in hand. Suberan finished as the leading run scorer with 29, and Wayne Cato and Paul Laidlaw chipped in with 20 runs each. The wickets were spread between five Belize bowlers. However, the 54 extras Belize allowed were their undoing.(Article: The opinions expressed in this article are those of the author only.
