Pakistan interim chief selector Wasim Bari has said Shoaib Akhtar's selection for the Sri Lanka series is subject to his fitness and whether or not he is wanted by the team.

"We don't know anything about his fitness position right now but I am going to get in touch with him before I go to Sri Lanka to consult with the captain and coach to finalise the squad for the one-day rubber," Bari, a former Test captain said.
The controversial fast bowler had said in Lahore on Wednesday that he was fit and wanted to return to the national side. The pacer was overlooked for the Test series and prior to that was dropped from the Twenty20 World Cup squad due to a medical condition.
Bari though said that he had a clear policy on selection of the players.
"First the fitness of the player has to be 100 per cent and secondly he must fit into the scheme of things of the tour selection committee and team management," he said.
Asked how the PCB would assess Shoaib's fitness since there was no domestic cricket currently on in the country, Bari said when required he can be called to the nets for a workout.LATEST SCORES
