Player: | BJ Haddin |
DateLine: 26th May 2009
Haddin waited seven years for an opening after making ODI debut in 2001. He finally got a Test after Gilchrist called day. Haddins batting ability was never in question but it was his wicket-keeping that was always under scrutiny. During the tour to India in 2007 he was always guilty of dropping crucial catches and also conceding byes at the crucial stages of the game. Not that he was entirely at fault for his teams poor showing but that he had replaced a giant at that position the scrutiny is bound to be higher. At 30 he still has time - and talent - on his side for a lengthy international career, but following one of the game's greats will not be easy.
