Player: | LS Baker |
DateLine: 3rd May 2009
Lionel Baker is the first player to have played international cricket from Montserrat. He made his debut against Pakistan in an ODI in November 2008. Baker is a right-arm pacer and did not have many first class matches behind him before his international debut. He was also a part of the Stanford Superstars squad but did not play a game. His first international wicket was that of Salman Butt and he returned with impressive figures of 9-0-47-3 in his first ODI. Before joining the West Indies national squad, Baker had a deal to join English county Leicestershire and represent them in 2009 but his West Indies selection made the deal fell through because then it meant he could not join the county as a local player using his British passport. Baker made his Test debut against New Zealand in December last year.
