Lancashire 1871
Born 5.9.1851 Hajepoor, India.
Died 29.8.1912 Gladesville, New South Wales, Australia.

He played for Birkenhead Park against Liverpool in 1871, scoring 29 and 3 not out, and on 29th, 20th June and 1st July 1871 he played for Eighteen of Birkenhead Park against the All England Eleven at Birkenhead, scoring 12 in his only innings.
He first appears for Lancashire in their match at Derby against Derbyshire on 17th to 19th August 1871. This proved to be his only match for the county.
However, just over a wek later, on 28th and 29th August, he opened the innings for the Gentlemen of Lancashire against the Gentlemen of Warwickshire at Warwick, scoring 7, and taking two catches.
He was a right-handed batsman and a wicket-keeper.
The 1881 Census shows a Rowland W. Hill, unmarried, aged 31 born at Adelaide, Australia, a solicitor, at 17 and 18 Clements Inn, London. Is this the right man?
