SKINNER, John.

Born at Steyning, Sussex, 16th July 1850.
Died at Steyning, Sussex, 17th February 1926.
The son of Richard Skinner, a master tailor, he followed his father in this craft. He played first-class cricket in just ten matches, all for Sussex, 1873-82, and he also coached at Marlborough College.
At the time of the 1881 Census he was still unmarried, aged 30, a master tailor, living at the Tailors Shop, Steyning. Sussex, with his father Richard, aged 60, a master tailor employing one man, and his mother Jane, aged 64. His unmarried brothers Ernest aged 29 a carpenter and joiner and Harry L. aged 25, a wine merchants assistant are also present as is his unmarried sister Fanny aged 24.
