Brief profile of Steve Bastien
by Dr.A.K.Hignell

Player:S Bastien

Steve Bastien made his debut in county cricket at the age of 25 after learning his cricket in Dominica and then at Haringey College in London. After trials with Essex, Surrey and Gloucestershire, Bastien joined the Glamorgan staff in 1988 and the swing bowler took 5 wickets on his first-class debut against Leicestershire at Neath.

For the next seven years, Bastien produced some useful performances with the ball, and also showed that he was no rabbit with the bat. Indeed, he produced a match-winning innings in Glamorgan`s Nat West Trophy game in 1992 against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge, calmly driving the final ball of the game to the boundary to secure a place for his team in the quarter-finals of the knockout competition.
