Brief profile of Michael Cann
by Dr.A.K.Hignell

Player:MJ Cann

Michael Cann made his 2nd XI debut for Glamorgan in 1983, and in his second season of second team cricket, Cann scored over 1,000 runs. He led the U.A.U. in 1986 and 1987 and also appeared for the Combined Universities in the Benson and Hedges Cup in 1987.

The steady left-hander had made his County Championship debut in 1986, and in 1989 he struck his maiden first-class hundred with 109 against Somerset at Sophia Gardens. However, the signing of Alan Butcher meant that Cann`s opportunities were restricted, and he was released from the county`s staff at the end of the 1991 season.
