Mark Davies had a good record playing for Maesteg Celtic and the Welsh Schools, and the left-handed opening batsman joined the Glamorgan staff in 1978.

 

He proved to be a consistent run scorer at second team level, but only made two first team appearances. Both were in June 1982, against Worcestershire and Oxford University, and in his only innings at first-class level, against the undergraduates at Swansea, Davies was dismissed without scoring.
