Fred Geary had a good record in League cricket in Leicestershire either side of the Great War, and after Glamorgan`s entry into the County Championship in 1921, Geary moved to South Wales in anticipation of playing in first-class cricket. The all-rounder secured a post with Port Talbot and after qualifying for the Welsh county, he played twice for Glamorgan in 1923. However, he had little impact and was not chosen again.
