Alwyn Harris joined Glamorgan`s staff in 1960 after completing his National Service. The left-handed opening batsman won a regular place in 1962 and duly passed a thousand runs as well as scoring a century against the Pakistani tourists at the Arms Park.

He subsequently lost his place in the county`s side, and left Glamorgan`s staff at the end of the 1964 season. Harris then coached at Christ College Brecon, before playing as a professional in the South Wales Leagues.
