Gwyn Hughes was a useful left-arm spinner and right-handed batsman who played in 17 matches for Glamorgan in the early 1960`s. The Cardiff-born cricketer also won a Blue at Cambridge in 1965, and also represented their rugby XV in 1964.
 
His two career-best performances were both recorded against touring teams 92 against the 1964 Australians for Glamorgan at the Arms Park, and the following year 4/31 for Cambridge University against the New Zealanders at Fenner`s. 
Hughes went into teaching and for many year taught economics at St. Paul`s School.
