Leslie Jenkins showed rich promise as a wicket-keeper batsman whilst at school at Malvern, and when the Great War ended he developed into a forceful opening batsman with the Penarth club.

 

With Glamorgan searching for a regular wicket-keeper, Jenkins was called into the Glamorgan side in 1921. In his ten first-class appearances, he proved himself to be a deft wicket-keeper, especially against the spinners, claiming 8 catches and making 2 stumpings.
