MEADEN, Henry J. B.
Amateur.
Born at Point de Galle, Ceylon, 1863.
He played in just the three matches for Hampshire in the summer of 1881. This was the sum total of his first-class career.
The 1881 Census shows a Henry Meaden, a medical student at Southampton College, aged 18 born in Point de Galle, Ceylon. The headmaster is shown as Albert Searly, aged 21 born in Exeter, Devon. There are nineteen students aged ten to eighteen, thirteen of them from abroad. There is also a Charles Meaden, aged 14 born in Hong Kong. The college has four domestic servants. This is the most likely candidate but more research is needed.
