  • This was the 2007th match in ODI history.
  • This was the 60th match in ODI history to be abandoned as no result (where some play was possible).
  • India have now appeared in 22 ‘no result’ games – maximum by any side. South Africa, on the other hand, have played in 7 ‘no result’ games.
  • With both India and South Africa declared joint winners, this provided the third occasion when two teams jointly won a tournament because the final could not be completed because of rain and unplayable ground conditions. Australia and Pakistan were declared joint winners in PSO Tri-Nation Tournament held in Kenya in August – September 2002 Soon after India and Sri Lanka jointly lifted the ICC Champions Trophy held in Sri Lanka in September 2002 when the final could not be completed even on the reserve day.
