Notes
--> South first innings batting adds 1 run over
--> Bowling in the South first innings adds 1 run over

One of the most exciting matches of all time finished with the South winning by 22 runs. North won the toss but surprisingly put the South in to bat, a grave error on such a good wicket. The scoring was steady all through and Tommy Francis made a fine century adding 114 for the sixth wicket with Chris Tunon and after their 100 overs they had made 269. Sunny Chauhan was the pick of the South bowlers taking five wickets for 48 runs. The North never quite got into a rhythm and struggled against some good bowling, Alex Ferguson with 46 being the best of the batting and the North finished 117 behind. Chauhan again bowled well in the second innings of the South and taking six wickets for 33 runs was mainly responsible for the poor score. Set 211 to win the North had a fight on their hands but made a good effort to make the runs. Diego Lord took five wickets for 43 runs but the match was probably lost when Ryan bowled Kirschbaum with a real 'fizzer' mid way though the innings.
